Texas Rangers

The franchise was originally established in 1961 to replace the Washington Senators, and took on the same name until 1972, when the team moved to Arlington and changed its name to the Texas Rangers, after the notorious law enforcement squad. They’ve won two American League pennants and 6 West Division titles. In 2001, the Rangers signed A-Rod (famous for his games with the New York Yankees) for a 10-year contract valued at over $250 million. They traded him to the Yankees before the 2004 season, for both Alfonso Soriano and Joaquin Arias.

For their first ten years beginning in 1961, the franchise called Griffith Stadium home. They moved to RFJ Stadium, and remained there until 1971. At that point, they moved to Arlington Stadium, formally known as Turnpike Stadium, until 1994. Now their home ballpark is Globe Life Park, in Arlington. The ballpark is surrounded by restaurants and other attractions, such as Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, a 50-acre water park.
