Everything is Bigger in Texas: Cowboys' New $1.5 Billion Headquarters “The Star”

For over 30 years the Dallas Cowboys called Valley Ranch their home in the off-season. After two years in the making, America’s team has packed up their bags and have moved into their new practice facility and headquarters in Frisco, Texas. Owner Jerry Jones wanted to match the high standards of their state-of-the-art AT&T Stadium for their new facility “The Star” and they may have exceeded them.

The Star sits on 91 acres of land in Frisco and cost Jerry Jones $1.5 billion. The incredible practice facility is 510,000 square feet and seats 12,000 fans. For Jerry this project was more than just a new home for his team, it was a place that connected them to the community. The Star will also be the home for Frisco’s high school football teams. He hopes that this will create a bond between his elite athletes and the youths of their home state, giving the young athletes a spectacular place to show off their talents.

If you have seen the Cowboys’ home field you know Mr. Jones enjoys extravagance. He pulled out all the stops when it came to lavish amenities with The Star. The main facility features an innovative weight room and the NFL’s largest hot tub. Above the weight room will even feature an outdoor field adjacent to the coaches office where coaches and players can line-up plays and formations without having to travel down to the two other practice fields. Jones wanted fans to feel like they are in Times Square when they visit, so there will also be shops, restaurants, hotel, a sports medicine center, and even a franchise hall of fame that pays homage to all the Cowboy greats.

Jerry Jones envisions The Star to be of national significance. He hopes that one day the NFL Draft and perhaps the NFL scouting combine could be held there. Jerry definitely spared no expense when it came to The Star and it is very honorable of him to share his jewel with the local school system. The official opening of the new facility will be in August, just in time for the 2016 NFL season.
